I’ve been working out my appreciation and love for my favorite tool…my trusty pencil.
The one that I’m always with, the one that feeds, the one that bleeds my soul, expresses my pain.
I’ve set out to highlight the promotion and appreciation of pencils; their place in the creative process, their usefulness even in this digital age, flexibility in all fields and their history in various illustrations and these are just some of them.
This is a project I worked on recently for National Environment and Planning Agency of Jamaica.
Apparently I’ve been preparing for the project all year, I’ve alot of natural based projects (2 farms, a hair care products and a food company).
Actually I was referred by one of these clients.
There were some must have elements placed on me; animal, a tree, a river and mountains.
I offered a couple options that were more iconic than illustrative, we wen through a couple iterations but in all the project took a week from concept, approvals, upper management approvals to final artwork.
She’s a writer from Trinidad and a big fan of my work, she asked me to do an illustration for her so could use it as an avatar on her blog. So I did a quick sketch in illustrator and the rest you can see.
